Working For Climate
Working For Climate is founded by the late Martin Mafereka, Joel Letsipa and Motlatsi Makhasane in 2009. With the vision for the organisation to be the answer to educating our nation around climate change, global warming and green economy. Working For Climate has been working hard to ensure that we live in a sustainable environment from 16 June 2009 to date. It was formally registered in 2017 as a Non-Profit Company (NPC) and an incubatee of Centre For Entreprenuership (CFE) TOSA TVET Campus incubation programme.
Working For Climate advocated and lobbied for the regulation of climate change which saw a climate change bill passed in June 2018, now realising a green industrial park. Funded by the National Lotteries Commission, internationally recognized for their hard work and dedication towards educating the communities about climate change and sustainable environment by Team 54 Project. Members of WHISGREEN-AFRICA an innovative team all african countries and its island nations, with an aim of connecting people and communities towards cleaning our planet and regenerating our ecosystems.
Working For Climate has been recognised and awarded for the good work they are doing and won 2019 Women in Environment Dialogue, Women Leading 4 Climate Action Certificate of Recognition for Green Economy Workshops & Awareness-Environmental Activists, for outstanding contribution to Women Empowerment in the Environment Sector in 28 August 2019 by Department of Environmental Affairs. The Best Environmental Project in 29 March 2019 awarded by The Department of Small Business Tourism & Environmental Affairs (DESTEA), where Mr Motlatsi Makhasane was also awarded The Best Environment Activist by DESTEA in 29 March 2019. Working For Climate won the 2nd prize of Tabalaza Incubator Support Programme in 07 August 2018, won The Best Green Economy Enterprise Award in 05 October 2018 awarded by Youth Chamber of Commerce and Indudstry Free State (YCCFS).
